I am Razvan and I proudly gratuated from BSS in 2012. Previously to graduating from BSS I had lived,studied and worked in Romania, Spain and Poland. From an educational, yet inspirational point of view BSS has represented a melting pot of global nationalities, top tier diversity of speakers and a fantastic working culture. All these 3 ingredients of success represented an unique learning environment. Having had the privilege to attend the courses at BSS delivered by speakers from Harvard or Colombia University, which were mainly specialized in the area of finance and investments has given me a glance of how the financial markets are being ran and how they can impact the behaviour of both private and public investors. After graduating from BSS, I continued my superior education by earning a Double Degree(CEMS) MSc in International Business from UCD Dublin: Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School and Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. During my master studies I was recruited by Arla Foods, a Danish-Swedish multinational organization in the FMCG industry specialized in the dairy sector (6th worldwide player). Arla selected me from among 2200 applicants to take part in their 15 places-high profile leadership graduate programme which comprises of 3 international rotations within 3 different business groups. Therefore, I started my career in the UK working as a project manager in Supply Chain Development mainly working with LEAN methods to improve current processes. My second placement was rolled out in Business Development and Commercial Strategy department in Denmark. Currently, I am having a stint as a Regional Sales and Project Manager in the Middle East i.e. Saudi Arabia as part of my last rotation.

After graduating his Bachelor in “International Economics and Management” at Bocconi University in Milan, in 2011, Paul continued his studies with a Master in “International Management” at Vienna University of Economics and Business and HSG University of St. Gallen, Switzerland until 2013. During his master, Paul was involved in a series of business projects. These included: 1) Analyzing the powder detergent industry in Romania for Henkel Central and Eastern Europe in order to provide recommendations on how to increase Persil’s market share in Romania 2) Assessing the effects of the MIFID II (Markets in Financial Instruments Directive II) on the Swiss Asset Management and Private Banking industries in order to suggest ways for Credit Swiss to deal with changes derived from the MIFID II directive. In the last year of his master program, Paul served as assistant manager at ROMAUST S.R.L, one of Romania’s top honey exporters. Since 2014, Paul is employed as a management consultant at BearingPoint S.R.L He is now assigned to a project in Frankfurt dealing with the development process of ABACUS DaVinci, a software helping banks fulfill their quarterly regulatory reporting duties. The focus of his work are Large Exposures in the regulatory reporting process. Besides his work he is currently attending the “Regulatory Reporting Specialist” course offered by the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management.

After leaving our program Jan completed an internship at a proprietary trading company in Vienna in 2008 then he began his professional career as a Front Office Data and Analytics Manager at Deutsche Börse AG in Frankfurt. In 2010 he joined the risk management department at Banka Slovenije where his initial responsibilities included executing analysis of individual counterparties, overseeing the investment activities, ensuring compliance with the investment criteria, developing risk monitoring tools and comprehensive risk reporting and later became actively involved within the Eurosystem’s Risk Management Committee as a member of the Eurosystem’s Credit Assessment Framework (ECAF) network. While working for Banka Slovenije Jan participated within a job rotation at Oesterreichische Nationalbank in Vienna, where he worked within the Supervisory Statistics, Models and Credit Quality Assessment Division and within Treasury – Strategy Division. He holds a BSc in Business Informatics from the University of Ljubljana and a M.A. in International Business from HTW Berlin.

I was still a student when I first joined YLC as a participant in 2007. What a difference those first two weeks made… This is a program that builds knowledge, ambition, real skills and confidence. I knew it’s worth sharing with the world, and intended to do just that. I helped organize this event in the next 7 years and it was the most inspiring project I was ever involved in. Since then, I have embarked on a journey that has taken me through various countries and a few career profile changes. I first pursued a doctoral degree and graduated in 2011. I was then a trainee with various EU institutions in Belgium and Luxembourg including the European Investment Bank and later switched back to the private sector. I worked for Deutsche Post DHL and I am currently working in corporate risk at ASML, a semiconductor tech company based in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. I am still reminded of the YLC energy, friendship and dedication to success, especially around the summer starting date, and it brings back some incredible stories, every time. What’s your story?

I have been selected to YLC in my first real months of entrepreneurship, after winning Social Impact Award and after just starting my first business venture. I was fortunate to be one the few selected and presented with the opportunity, therefore I came into the program really eager to learn and had high expectations about it.   Looking back, all I can really say is that most of my expectations were exceeded and it happened because of the quality content that was being taught by top notch trainers and people in charge of the top entrepreneurship programs around the world and also because of the standard it set among the startups.   The program helped me realize what I needed to do in order to build a valuable startup, the amount of work I need to put into and the most important, where I wanted to be as a founder. It helped me raise the bar for myself and the startup I co-found, Serafim. I went on to apply that knowledge and the invaluable connections I made during the program to Serafim, a startup in its infancy that managed to gain National and European recognition along with high appraisals from top customers and leaders in the Agribusiness space in almost no time. We are now working hard and looking forward to continuously improve and scale our product.   I remained close to YLC because of the unique experience it provided me with at that moment in my entrepreneurial journey and because I strongly feel this program never really ended, helping me and my team every step of the way.
